Damask Divas Blog Hop Balloon Ride

Welcome to the Damask Divas Blog Hop for May, 2014.  If you got here from Jamie’s post, then you are in the right place.  You can always go to the Damask Divas Group Blog to see the entire list and/or start at the beginning.

This month we are using the Close to my Heart paper pack “Balloon Ride.”  It is one of my favorites.  I have been wanting to make a box card and decided I would give it a go with this paper pack.  Melody Lane made the project available to her followers in Design Space so I was able to use my new Cricut Explore to do the cutting on the box.   I cut the balloons and clouds out by hand.  The rest of the decor is from embellishments I had on hand (La Belle Vie, Picture My Life, etc.).  The sentiment is from the CTMH stamp set “Give a Lift” and it also has cute balloons.  Next time I use this paper pack I will use the balloons in that stamp set too.

CTMH buzz card and gift box pic

I cannot say that I like bees in person since they can sting, but I love these cute paper bees!  And I love the honey that real bees make!  I was inspired to make a card and gift box set. I covered the 4 1/2″chipboard card box with the various papers from the pack.  I used the Honeycomb stamp set to stamp the honeycomb shapes and then cut them out.  I layered them together to make the bee hive shape.  I cut the bees out of some scrap paper and pop dotted them on.  The paper flowers were made using the Artiste Cricut Cartridge exclusive to CTMH.    I also added some copper glitter glue to give the box some sparkle.

Here are more photos so you can see the details:

Pretty in pink, sewing kit made with the Artiste CTMH Cricut Cartridge and La Belle Vie paper

Welcome to the January Damask Divas Blog Hop using La Belle Vie papers by Close to my Heart.  If you arrived from Latisha’s site at www.creatingfuncrafts.com/2012/12/damask-divas-la-belle-vie-blog-hop.html  you are in the right place.  You can always return to the main page for the Damask Divas at www.damaskdivas.com.  I created a cute sewing kit.  I was inspired by another Damask Diva’s Starbucks Gift Box (Thanks, Jayma Malme).  I used a ribbon punch on each print square and tied a ribbon to it before attaching to the box.  I could then tie each item so it could be used and returned to the box.  The gems help to keep the flaps from folding in when the lid is on, and the flaps fold down to show the items when the box lid is removed.  What does this exploding gift box inspire you to make?  Happy Crafting.
